So my hubby told me to pack my bags and we were off on a secret trip on Friday. We left around 7:30? (seems so long ago) and we drove south. After a few hours, I started seeing signs for Savannah, GA. For a good hour or so, I thought that was were we were going. Then the husband turned off on an exit to CHARLESTON!!!! I’ve been to Charleston, SC one time before. It was a field trip in high school and not nearly as exciting as this one. I am telling you, Brandon and I are best friends. I have so much fun with him 🙂
South of the Border. Does anyone actually go to this?
So we arrive in Charleston and he tells me to look for a Hampton Inn. So I found it and then we drove past it. What a sneak! We pulled up to one of my dream places- A BED AND BREAKFAST!!!!!!!!! I watched “Tori and Dean: Inn Love” for a while and I wanted to stay in a B&B just like they did. I love the quaintness of a B&B and the history behind them. I was so happy he took me there I was almost in tears!!
Here is the wonderful B&B we stayed at:
The Battery Carriage House Inn
We got there a little early (check in was at 3), but they let us go ahead and check in since the room was clean.
We then went downtown to grab lunch at the Noisy Oyster.
I got the shrimp quesadilla. It was delicious!
Brandon’s shrimp po boy.
After lunch, we went through the outdoor market and got some ice cream from Kilwin’s. I love Kilwin’s, it reminds me of Wilmington.
We decided to go on the carriage ride through Charleston. I loved this in high school, so I was excited that the husband wanted to go on it. Our horse’s name was Carson and our driver had such a southern accent, it almost sounded fake. Brandon and I kept quoting “Forrest Gump” because he sounded just like him!
We thought this said something else 😉
We then came back to the B&B and went to the cocktail hour at 5:30. They serve wine and cheese every night between 5:30-7. I was in love. This was my kind of place! I had two glasses and some yummy cheese. We mingled with other guests, some from Canada!, Virginia and Ohio. I could have listened to the couple from Quebec all night. I love listening to a French accent 🙂
We had to write down what we wanted to breakfast the next day on our door hanger and put it up before dinner.
We left and had dinner at Fleet Landing.
I wanted a chicken sandwich, but the waiter was kind of a jerk and told me I should get something else. It pissed me off, but I ordered salmon instead. I mean, I know I should get seafood in Charleston, but I was going to order a chicken sandwich and a blue crab dip appetizer. He just heard “chicken sandwich” and there went his tangent. Anyway…Brandon ordered seafood pasta and was in love.
We sat out on the pier and the atmosphere was awesome. We watched the sun go down. It was pretty wonderful.
When got back to the room we realized we had turn down service!
With complimentary chocolates. They tasted like Andes mints!
We had breakfast served to our room on a silver platter!
We parked and forgot the towels so Brandon went back to the car to get them.
We came back to the B&B, showered and were off to Fort Sumter. I am not a history lover like my husband, so I wasn’t that excited.
We took a 30 minute ferry ride over.
We listened to a 30 minute speech, walked around for about a half hour and then got back on the ferry to ride back.
We then had the 5:30 wine and cheese again at the B&B 🙂
And went to dinner around 8 at the Charleston Crab House.
I ordered the low country shrimp boil. SO FREAKING GOOD!!!!!!!!!
The husband got the broiled something or other. I was too focused on my food to pay attention 🙂
Whoa looks like I’m naked!
I had a wonderful anniversary trip. My hubby is the greatest. Eva.
